Welcome to Kent Metropolitan Leagues
Welcome to the Kent Metropolitan League website.

The KentMet League was set up initially for the 1997/1998 season. It was the natural development, following the success the previous season, of the East Kent Leagues, organised by John Carley.

There are five league tables consisting of the junior sides from the majority of the rugby clubs in the North West area of Kent, and the South East quadrant of London, with some 27 clubs involved providing 54 teams evenly spread over the five leagues. In recognition of the main County sponsors for Kent RFU, Shepherd Neame Limited, each of the five leagues has been named after one of the brewer's ales, namely, Spitfire, Bishops Finger, Goldings, Master Brew, and Late Red.

The main aim is to encourage the playing of rugby at the senior level by providing a fixture list for a season as full as possible and at the appropriate level with the minimum of travel involved. There is no system of promotion or relegation, but at the end of the each season, amendments are made depending upon a team’s performance. Ultimately, it is the aim to provide 30 plus players the chance to enjoy themselves each Saturday by continuing to play rugby at the right level and indirectly to help clubs financially, via their bar profits, to have a full workable Fixture List during the season.

April
27th  CUP RESULT for 26th APRIL
Westcombe Park V 10 - Erith II 5.
Congratulations to both sides for putting on such an enthralling display of running rugby. How Erith did not score in the second half was beyond believe, as they were in Parks half for 90% of the time. For myself I was pleased that it went so well and everyone enjoyed themselves including the spectators.
I have posted the rest of the play-off results. which to me were some what disappointing.Clive

22nd  CUP AND PLAY-OFFS RESULTS for 21st APRIL
I've posted the results of the Cup and congratulations to Erith II and to Westcombe Park V who are the two finalist this Thusday. The final positions were quite tight and in Group A they were Erith 8, +27, OD's 7, +6, Shoots 6, -12, and Brocks 5, -21. For Group B they were WP 8, +44, Greenwich 7, +27, Bexley 6, -4, and HSBC 1, -67.
Your support on Thursday night will be welcome at the NatWest ground, 7.30 KO.
The rest of the results will be posted when I have received them. Clive

20th  CUP AND PLAY-OFFS RESULTS for 14th APRIL
The last two results have now been posted, and it would seem that Sidcup 4ths have pulled out completely.
The Cup Final this Thursday 26th April, at 7.30, will be played at the old Nat. West Bank ground in Copers Cope Road Beckenham, where RBS play at the new Corby Leisure Centre. Hope to see you there. Clive.

19th  CUP AND PLAY-OFFS RESULTS for 14th APRIL
Sorry for the delay and although I am still awaiting 2 results I've posted the rest. Again there were far too many c/o, I think the sun and the World Cup are giving the impression that the cricket season is here. Our little Cup competition is proving interesting. In Group A the points, (including BP), and points difference are as follows; Shoots, 5 & 0, Erith, 5 & 11, OD's 6 & 22 and Brocks, 2 & -33. For Group B they are Greenwich, 6 & 44, WP, 5 & 27, Bexley, 3 & -24, and HSBC, 1 & -47. Anyone of three could win Group A whilst the game between WP and Greenwich will be very critical. Even if Greenwich lose they could still win the group if the points difference is 8 or less. This is the last full Saturday of the season for us, so enjoy it. Clive.

6th  CUP AND PLAY-OFFS RESULTS for 31st MARCH
I find it strange that the players supposedly want games, and when after a great deal of effort by several people nearly half of them disappear. This end of season scenario cannot be finalised until the leagues have finished, and clubs and players have been made aware of it and should have made provisions for it. I appreciate that it is a new venture, but it is pitiful that 11 out of 26 games had to be c/o. It will be interesting to see what happens for the other two weeks. Clive.
